Tale of 7 gamers: month 2

So, month 1 is done and we progress to the next stage!

For the end of June we all need to have 1000pts ready to rock, which means I have some serious catching up to do...

[updated 31/05/2012: I've realised a 5 strong unit of knight is a better option]

In preparation I have already put together some Knights and produced a mounted warrior priest conversion to lead a 5 strong unit.

Alongside this I'm going to be bumping up my halberdier unit to 40 (time for a horde unit!), which itself will be lead by a Battle Standard Bearer.

I'm undecided about whether to take a 10 strong unit of crossbow men as a stand alone unit or as two 5 man detachments for the halberdiers... Obviously giving the halberdiers stand and shoot support would be nice, but it will prevent them from hanging at the back and picking off the enemy from afar, unless I decide to hold back the halberdiers (which would limit my options for using them as a anvil against which the hammer of the knights would trap things)...

In any case, one thing I have definitely decided upon, and indeed purchased, is a Luminark of Hysh! Yes it's a bit of a nuts model (that's why I like it) but given that I'm not taking a wizard in my 1000pt force it's great for the extra dispel dice and another outlet for any power dice I generate in the magic phase (alongside my warrior priest). The 6+ Ward save it doles out to any of my units within 6" is nice as well.

This will make my 1000pts look like this:

Heroes

  • Battle Standard Bearer: Sword of Striking, Full Plate, Dragon Helm
  • Warrior Priest: Shrieking Blade, Heavy Armour, Enchanted Shield, Barded War Horse

Core

  • 5 Inner Circle Knights, Full Command, Steel Standard [lead by warrior priest]
  • 39 Halberdiers, Full Command [lead by BSB]
    • 5 Crossbow men
    • 5 Crossbow men

Special

  • Great Cannon

Rare

  • Luminark of Hysh

Comes to 998pts, which is handy.

We'll be taking to the field of battle on the 29th June, so watch this space for more WIP updates!
